Profesor Gregory Fahy z University of Maine at Augusta působí od srpna 2025 na Technické univerzitě v Liberci (TUL) v rámci projektu UčiTUL. Brown a Duke University).
Meditace jsou dostupné jako online nahrávky a jsou vedeny v anglickém jazyce. Detailní informace o programu, metodologii a filozofickém pozadí naleznete v původní anglické verzi textu.

English introduction to meditations:
Meditations for Focus, Resilience, and Self-Understanding with Prof. Gregory Fahy form University of Maine at Augusta

Since August 2025, Gregory Fahy from the University of Maine at Augusta has been a welcomed part of the Technical University of Liberec community through the UčiTUL project. Over the past three months, he has shared his long-standing experience with mindfulness and meditation, enriching both teaching and research on well-being in close collaboration with Magda Nišponská, Zuzana Pechová, and Jan Picek. He has developed a series of meditations designed to support students and faculty in cultivating focus, resilience, and deeper self-understanding through the lens of the mentalization approach.

The series consists of twelve guided meditations, each ten to fifteen minutes long, designed to help students become more aware of their bodies, feelings, perceptions, and thoughts. Drawing on the work of Peter Fonagy, the meditations integrate strategies for developing mentalization, epistemic trust, and resilience. Offered both as online recordings and in class during the Fall 2025 term, these practices give students accessible tools for self-awareness and professional growth. To evaluate their effectiveness, surveys will be conducted to gather feedback on how students perceive the impact of these practices on their mentalization and well-being.

Philosophically and methodologically, the meditations are rooted in the Anapanasati Sutra, a classical Buddhist text that provides sixteen breath-based practices central to the Insight Meditation tradition and the Plum Village Zen lineage. At the same time, the program builds on evidence-based university mindfulness initiatives such as Brown University’s Mindfulness-Based College program (Eric Loucks, Ph.D.) and Duke University’s Koru Mindfulness program (Holly Rogers, M.D.). Inspiration has also been drawn from Dr. Rick Hanson’s The Buddha’s Brain, particularly his framework for loving-kindness meditation. Together, these traditions and resources shape a practical, research-informed, and accessible series aimed at supporting students in their academic and personal lives.
